Home News & Events Closeburn House again awarded “Very Good” inspection rating by the Care Inspectorate
The recent inspection, carried out over two days in November 2025, involved a comprehensive review of our service, with inspectors speaking to young people, staff, and visiting professionals, as well as reviewing documentation and observing practice within the daily life of the service.
The official report, now available on the Care Inspectorate website here, highlights the strong, supportive relationships our staff have developed with the young people in our care, with a particular focus on supporting young people to understand and manage their emotions. The report also recognised that our young people achieve positive outcomes and are consistently supported to embrace new challenges and experiences to broaden their horizons.
Our clinical team and trauma-informed practice also received praise, with staff commended on their understanding of trauma, and how it influences behaviour.
The team were really pleased with the outcome of the report, highlighting the below comments are particularly pleasing:
“Young people were benefiting from clear support from staff to help manage and understand difficult emotions, validating their experiences and supporting them to move through challenging situations”
“Major strengths in supporting positive outcomes for young people”
“Children and young people’s aspirations, interests and skills were consistently supported and developed…activities they had prior interests in, such as playing musical instruments and caring for animals, were encouraged…and new and exciting experiences, which broadened their horizons provided”
A huge thank you to all of our young people, parents and staff who took part in the inspection – we are so proud!
