Home News & Events Autism in Girls and Young Women: Recognition, Understanding and Clinical Practice
This specialist training explores how autism may present differently in females and what this means for professionals working across education, health, and care services.
Delivered by the clinical team at Holistic Childcare and Education, this session combines clinical expertise, current research, and lived-experience perspectives to support earlier recognition and more effective support strategies.
The presentation draws on research linked with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, including work associated with Professor Francesca Happé and Dr Freya Spicer-White.
This event is suitable for:
What you’ll learn:
✔ Why autistic girls are often under-recognised
✔ Differences in female autism presentation
✔ Camouflaging and masking behaviours
✔ Mental health risks linked to delayed identification
✔ Listening to the voices of autistic girls and women
✔ Practical reflections for professional practice
